Introducing FirstView 2.0

When did Starbucks start doubling as a computer lab?  And is it just me or are there more people talking or texting while driving now than before it was declared unlawful?

It’s hard to ignore the facts regarding mobile computing and connectivity:

  • Sales of tablet computers are expected to exceed desktop sales by 2013.
  • Worldwide, there are 6 billion mobile phone subscribers.  That’s over 87% of the world’s population!
  • In the US, 25% of mobile Web users only access the internet via their mobile device (i.e., they do not use a desktop for internet access).

Part of our mission at FirstView Eye Care Associates is to invest in and embrace the latest technology to enhance the care we provide.  “Care” is typically thought of as what goes on within the walls of our practice, but I submit that it extends beyond that.  It includes constant access to your Personal Health Record containing data from your electronic record in our office.  It includes a strong social media presence that allows interaction with our office between visits.  And, as of today, it includes a mobile-friendly website dubbed FirstView 2.0.

FirstView 2.0 was hatched with the idea of convergence at its core.  Let’s bring all the cool features of the original website like the online scheduler and interactive map together with our blog.  And let’s have all our social media outlets accessible from one spot.  And, most importantly, let’s make it all happen on a responsive platform that allows the user an exceptional experience whether they are visiting via phone, tablet, or desktop computer.

So while you’re here, poke around and feel free to let us know what you think.  And don’t be a stranger…there’s more fun on the horizon.
