Sorry for the lack of posts of late. There’s been a lot of exciting stuff going on at FirstView Eye Care Associates though…not the least of which is our conversion to electronic health records.

Who would have thought that the conversion of 30+ years of records, patient charts, documents, and inventory data would be stressful?

Read as Rodney Dangerfield: “Lemme tell ya…electronic health records…they’re one of the few things that can cause AND be used to treat high blood pressure”.

In all seriousness, after the adjustment period is over, electronic records will offer huge advantages to our patients over paper-based records.  A few of those include:

• integration with a patient’s other health care providers’ records
• electronic prescription transmission and refills to a patient’s pharmacy
• years of clinical data available at the click of a button

We’re excited about the improvements in care this transition will allow.  As we all get comfortable with the system, though, please sit back, relax, and enjoy your next 3 hour eye exam 😉
